Avocado Carrier Oil

Persea americana, - The avocado tree was first found growing in South American swamp lands where it was nicknamed 'alligator pear'.  Technically, avocados are a fruit because they have a stone.  The oil is extracted from the flesh which contains up to 30% pure oil - a figure rivaled only by olive and palm fruit.  Crude avocado oil is produced by mechanical pressing on hydraulic presses, followed by centrifugal extraction.  The oil is rich in many nutrients including Vitamin A and D, lecithin and potassium.  It is also green in color.  Although the oil is mono-unsaturated, it is not as stable as olive oil at high temperatures, so it is not suitable for cooking.  Avocado oil can be used to soothe the skin, being useful for conditions such as nappy rash and eczema.  It has moisturizing properties and is ideal for dry, mature skin and assists in the treatment of climate-damaged, parched, undernourished or aging skin.  Very thick.
